On the 13th February Team Qoroz consisiting of Ben Stockdale, Tom Stockdale Mikey Thelwell, Scott Law and Matt Ullmer, all ex Evesham Wheelers, attended the season opener, perfs pedal. On a wet, windy and cold day 80 riders set out for the 46 mile race covering 7 laps of a rolling circuit with a uphill finish. The race started full steam with the team UK youth with Paris Roubaix winner Magnus Backstead keen to get his team to a winning start.
Attacks were fast and furious with the Qoroz boys trying to cover everything. With the halfway mark reached, a group of 3 containing Backstead were away. Wiith hard chasing in the second group by Tom Stockdale this group was brought back. Then, with two laps to go, a group of 10 riders containing Ben Stockdale broke away from the peleton. This group stayed together right up to the finish. With an uphill sprint on the cards for the group of 10, Ben Stockdale choose Yanto Barker's wheel and with the group speeding up over the climb, Ben waited to the last moment before taking the line with time to celebrate the biggest win of his career and a great start to the season.
